Beyoncé and Jay-Z fans were whipped up into a frenzy over the weekend thanks to a viral screenshot

Beyonce and Jay-Z fans were whipped up into a frenzy over the weekend as documents indicating the superstar couple are suing Rihanna and A$AP Rocky went viral online.

Rap mogul Jay-Z – real name Shawn Carter – saw a sexual assault lawsuit against him ‘voluntarily dismissed with prejudice‘ last week, so fans were confused to see screenshots of a pending lawsuit with the 55-year-old’s name attached.

The image, which quickly caught widespread attention on Sunday, showcased two pending lawsuits in the Virgin Islands District Court which claimed that Jay-Z had taken up a legal issue with A$AP Rocky – real name Rakim Mayers.

Meanwhile, the second case saw Beyoncé, 43, taking legal action against Rihanna, 37.

According to unverified claims, the lawsuits — both supposedly filed on February 22— were awaiting hearings allegedly set for March 8.

However, eagle-eyed fans soon began to notice tell-tale signs which appeared to confirm the lawsuits were not real.

In the suit allegedly filed by Jay-Z, A$AP Rocky, 36, is referred to by his stage name, when legal documents would always require the subject’s legal name.

Meanwhile, Rihanna’s real name – Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was misspelled as ‘Robin.’

Fans also noted that the hearing was set for 8am on March 8, which is a Saturday.

Not long after fans started to debate about the validity of the screenshot, Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation appeared to wade into the debate.

The company’s official X (formerly Twitter) account simply wrote: ‘Don’t be dumb.’

The tweet appeared to be a clear use of the name of A$AP’s upcoming album in order to squash the rumors.

To date, Rihanna is still named one of Roc Nation’s talent with regards to distribution, management and publishing.

Elsewhere, Rocky is listed as one of the company’s talent with regards to management.

Soon, the original X account that shared the image started to defend their actions and tweeted a screenshot showcasing how the lawsuit did appear in the court system when searched.

‘In the matters of Knowles-Carter v. Fenty and Carter v. A$AP Rocky, I know s**t I post be sounding cray cray, but I am not, and I ain’t no liar. Peep this s**t for your damn self,’ the tweet read.

Soon, popular lawyer Meghann Cuniff shed light on the situation and claimed it may have been a prank.

When one person theorized: ‘I’d bet the farm that the court clerk is testing the ECF system on a quiet Sunday with fake cases. Usually they pick Santa to Sue. The dockets should go away momentarily.’

Meghann responded: ‘I looked at the docket after seeing all my @’s and told someone that this MUST be some kind of elaborate prank when the only publicly available document in Knowles-Carter v. Fenty is this… “TRAINING DOCUMENT.”‘

She added: ‘The cases are no longer listed in the PACER filing system, but there will always be stuff on sites like Justia.com and it really begs the question of how the courts are dealing with whoever decided it was a good idea to use real celebrity names to test the docket. Oops??’

DailyMail.com has reached out to reps for comment.

Indeed, Rocky and Rihanna would certainly be keen to stay away from the courts for quite some time after recent events.

Last week saw Rocky jump for joy after he was cleared of two counts of felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm following a three-week trial.

Rocky faced two decades in prison for his alleged involvement in a 2021 dust-up with former pal Terell Ephron, aka A$AP Relli.
